All free text entry fields in BRAHMS can be set to have ‘Forced lookup status’. The use of forced lookups, especially on networked systems, helps to minimize incorrect data entries by forcing users to choose an option from a dictionary.
Forced lookup fields are set using Admin > Forced lookup settings. Both the file ALIAS and the FIELD_NAME must be added and the FORCE LOOKUP flag marked *.
In the above example, fields in RDE files (alias = RDE), the main collection file (alias = HS) and main species file (alias = SP) have been set to forced lookup. Alias names are always provided in the caption bar of opened data files.
