The AutoMatch function is one of the most useful RDE optimization tools when logged into a database which already has many records entered.
The function checks if collection data has already been added to BRAHMS as you type data into your RDE file. The function reduces the double entry of collection data. You can also edit matched records in BRAHMS directly from RDE - or back load records from BRAHMS, online sources and other linked RDE files into your current RDE file.
AutoMatch settings are adjusted in the opened RDE file using Tools > AutoMatching and lookup settings or the extra AutoM toolbar option. I can be switched on/off quickly using the OnOff toolbar. It is possible to search matching records:
a) in the active database
b) in a designated external RDE file
Matching optionally takes place on exiting the fields ACCESSION and/or BARCODE. Additionally, matching takes place on exiting a designated RDE field. Matching is based on your selected match criteria. As data are typed into the RDE file, BRAHMS checks the designated sources for matching records.
The use of the additional RDE file option means that you can construct an RDE file of collections and include these in the data checking process as you type without having to import these data into BRAHMS.

In the above example, the check is initiated after exiting the NUMBER. Collections are matched only using the data in the NUMBER field. In this example, only the current database is searched.
The AutoMatch configuration form is opened while editing an RDE file using Tools > AutoMatching and lookup settings or using the AutoM toolbar.

An example RDE auto-lookup (NB this form is resizable). After exiting the NUMBER field with, in this case the value ‘260’, all collections with NUMBER 260 are listed. Results can be sorted. Using the Edit in BRAHMS option, you can edit a matched collection in BRAHMS while editing the data in RDE.
