Data in files that refer to taxonomic names can be summarized using a TreeView control. This provides a display of taxonomic data for the current file in a hierarchical tree. The tree can also be used to navigate or filter on the selected tree node. Trees are opened using the new
toolbar option. Tree views can be generated in:
In RDE and extract files, clicking on a tree node (e.g. a family, genus or species name) applies a filter on that name – and in this way, the tree provides a fast way to access the data. The tree view option also provides a quick way to list taxa based on a collection on taxon search - a sort of quick checklist.

The collection extract file with tree view control opened. In this example, taken from a conifer database, all collections of conifers from China were extracted. Clicking on the resulting ‘checklist tree view’ nodes auto-filters the collection records - here at the genus level.

The tree view control can be combined with the Zoom control as illustrated here.
