Creating and applying a style scheme

Map style schemes allow you to add colour, symbol and size settings to mappable files. Rather than editing these values manually or using FoxPro commands, a style scheme adds the map style values according values that you set up in a style scheme. Select Maps > Map style schemes to open the schemes file.


A simple map style example is provided in this help file section.



An example with 2 separate schemes added.


To open and edit the properties of a scheme, use the toolbar.



The above example is based on the numeric field TAXA (this example could be used in a diversity calculation.



If you want to set data ranges, continue with:



The COLOUR, SYMBOL and SIZE fields are set are required. Use F9 to lookup values for colour and symbol (as added to those separate map files)



The example above shows altitude banding represented by different opacity values. All the values are red by the opacity % has been set from 30% to 100%.



To apply the scheme, open the data file to edit and select Tools > Map tools > Apply a style scheme.




When applying a scheme, ensure to enable the point colour/symbol and scale options on the form - as required.
